The population of Canada has risen from 11,5 million in 1941 to 25 million in 1980.Some Canadians are afraid that before long Canada will have colored citizens that white.The USA has not been a threat to Canada for almost two hundred years.The name Canada comes from a St. Lawrence Iroquoian word, Kanata, meaning village or settlement.The area was later split into two British colonies, Upper Canada and Lower Canada.They were re-unified as the Province of Canada in 1841.Combined, the term Dominion of Canada was in common usage until the 1950s.Aboriginal peoples in Canada comprise the First Nations, Inuit and Mtis.In 1534 Jacques Cartier explored Canada for France.Around 50,000 United Empire Loyalists fled the United States to Canada.
